Reports emerged on Tuesday morning that the NBA champion Warriors had already opted out of a visit to the White House, a decision the team is now denying ever happened.
2017 MVP Kevin Durant led the Warriors to their second title in three years on Monday night when Golden State took down LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers 129-120. According to several reports, the Warriors unanimously decided soon after their victory celebrations that they would not visit President Donald Trump at the White House to commemorate their championship win — but the team has since said they have made no such decision.
“Today is all about celebrating our championship,” the Warriors stated in responding to a Business Insider request for comment. “We have not received an invitation to the White House, but will make those decisions when and if necessary.”

Steve Kerr looks better than he has since he took a leave of absence during the Golden State Warriors’ first-round playoff series, and there’s a chance he will coach at some point against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals, sources told ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne.

Acting Warriors coach Mike Brown, speaking Wednesday to ESPN’s Michael Wilbon, said he didn’t know whether Kerr would return Thursday night for Game 1 and that the team wouldn’t know until closer to the 9 p.m. ET tipoff.

This comes just two days after Rose’s agent, B.J. Armstrong, told both SiriusXM NBA and the New York Post that his client is committed to the Knicks long-term. Rose was reportedly on the market before the trade deadline, but the team did not find a deal for him. He will be a free agent this summer.

If it wasn’t already clear that New York’s Rose experiment failed, it should be now. On an individual level, the former MVP has been fine this season, perhaps a little better than expected. In 50 games, he has averaged 17.6 points, 4.4 assists and 3.9 rebounds, shooting 46.2 percent and showing an ability to get into the paint and score at the rim that the Knicks desperately needed. Those numbers, however, do not capture the harmful effect he has had on New York’s defense — when he’s been on the court, the team has had a 111.6 defensive rating, worse than any of his teammates.
