The Ball family’s time in Lithuania has come to an end, and it’s for a familiar reason.

According to Lithuanian basketball journalist Donatas Urbonas, LaVar Ball is pulling his sons, LiAngelo and LaMelo, out of Lithuania with two LKL games left in the season after he couldn’t overcome his issues with Vytautas head coach Virginijus Seskus.

Ball reality show comes to an end. BC Vytautas confirmed that Ball brothers are set to leave Lithuania next week, with two LKL regular season games left to play. BC Vytautas still will be fighting to avoid relegation.

LiAngelo, who became a leading scorer in the LKL, had missed time recently due to an ankle injury, but LaMelo had not seen much playing time in top-league LKL action, angering LaVar. It got to the point where LaVar had seen enough.

“We’re not going to waste our time no more”, LaVar told. LiAngelo injured his ankle, LaMelo didn’t get any playing time, so LaVar decided to take all his sons back to LA. Lonzo is visiting his family in Prienai right now. They’re set to leave Sunday-Monday

LaVar added that they had to shut down Gelo for the season in order to prepare better for NBA draft combine, pre-draft camps and so on. But he was mad that Melo didn’t get any playing time in the end of the season

LaVar wanted to make it clear that the issues had nothing to do with Lithuania or the organization. He solely had a problem with the head coach.

LaVar Ball told he was happy with the Lithuania, its people and BC Vytautas organization: “I just didn’t get along with the coach”

LaMelo averaged just 12 minutes per game in LKL play, scoring 6.5 points on a dismal 26.8 percent shooting. A majority of his playing time came in Big Baller Brand exhibition games against subpar competition.

While LiAngelo has declared for the NBA draft (he’s not expected to get drafted), LaMelo won’t be eligible for another two years. Without a team, he’ll be in the similar basketball limbo that LaVar put him in after pulling him out of high school.

Given how any team that takes on LaMelo would have to deal with LaVar’s demands (and the drama that comes with the Ball family), it could very well be a struggle for LaMelo to land with any top European club.

In Game 1 of their series, the Philadelphia 76ers — without Joel Embiid — blew the doors off the Miami Heat, winning by 27. It’s the kind of game that can lead a young team to overconfidence.

That’s when Draymond Green texted Joel Embiid some words of advice, reports Jessica Camerato of NBC Sports Philadelphia.

“Draymond texted me after the first game when we blew Miami out,” Embiid recalled Monday. “He basically told me that it’s not going to be the same in Game 2. They came back and they won that game.”

Green was right, but it’s one of the harder things for young players to understand, how much the ground can shift game-to-game in the playoffs. For the first four games especially, matchups and strategies will change night-to-night, and around Game 5 that tends to settle down and become more about execution (and talent).

For the Sixers, everything in their series changed with the return of Joel Embiid. Unhappily wearing a mask, Embiid’s defensive presence in the paint slows the Heat attack and allows things like Philly’s Game 4 comeback win on the road. Now Embiid’s about to make his home playoff debut in Game 5 Tuesday night, with a chance to close out the series.

“The atmosphere was amazing, it was insane,” Embiid said of the home crowd in Games 1 and 2. “After going to Miami, I felt like nothing compared to it. … We’ve been almost perfect [at home] since the beginning of the year. It just shows you how much we need them. Especially myself, I play better in that type of environment. I need the fans to get into it and push me. That makes me elevate my game.”

Beyond the first round, in an East where the expected best teams — Toronto and Cleveland — have looked vulnerable, the door is open.

“A lot of people say that we have a bright future, but I think our time is now,” Embiid said. “We have a pretty good chance. We have a special team, a lot of great guys. I don’t think we need anybody else. We’ve just got to work with what we have, and we have a special team. I feel like we have a pretty good chance to go far.

LeBron James could become a free agent this offseason but he could also control his destiny in another way by orchestrating an opt-in-and-trade similar to Chris Paul last offseason.

On The Lowe Podcast, Brian Windhorst talked about a scenario in which James could have an extended period of time to work on his offseason plans if the Cavaliers are eliminated from the playoffs before the Finals.

“All I’m going to say is you don’t want LeBron to have two months to plot with other players,” said Windhorst. “Because, you know, Chris Paul and James Harden have now written the script. While the Finals are going on, if you’re not in them, let’s just get together in L.A. and plot how you’re going to get together. You know, we’ve gotten in the point in the league where the players have so much power. They can force trades.”

When James was a free agent in 2010, the Cavaliers were eliminated in the second round on May 13th.

“LeBron has an option in his contract. I hear people talking about, ‘Will it be the “akers?’ They go through the four teams with cap space. ‘Will it be the Sixers?’ If LeBron deems it, he will go to the Cavs, ‘You will trade me to team X’ and as long as that team isn’t trying to force Luol Deng down the Cavs’ throat, the Cavs will do the deal because they won’t want to lose him for nothing. Just like how the Clippers did not want to trade Chris Paul, but at the end of the day, the alternative was unacceptable.

“If LeBron is left to his own devices and not focused on playing basketball for two months, and he can take meetings with everybody in the league: forget about July 1st, forget about the teams that are going to pitch him. The meetings are going to go down in May and June if LeBron is out of the playoffs. Now, if LeBron is not out of the playoffs and the Cavs get all the way to the Finals, that changes the game quite a bit.

“We’re going to get down to June 29th, that’s when LeBron’s option date is. In fact, whenever the draft is, the Cavs are going to like, you know, be like, ‘LeBron, what are we going to do here?’ I don’t even know if this is even going to get to July. This could all get mitigated out in June.”
